Friday 14th March, 2014

I didn’t know whether to tell you about this or not.  It smacked a bit of blowing my trumpet.  But there is a lesson as well as a terrific double-entendre in here too so in the spirit of enlightenment that underpins the Bodhi Tree I thought I would share with you that Bob , lead singer, performed “Dani California” by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers “in front of the hole skool” at 8.00am on Monday morning in the TSR ( for those Old Rugbeians amongst you ).  Quite the way to start the week don’t you think?   When I asked the question Why then? the answer didn’t provide much in the way of explanation, but I enjoyed his elaboration;  ”our supporting act was the Rev Horner saying a prayer”.   He tells me it scares him witless, but to stand up in front of the whole school is indeed pretty kule and obviously I am quite proud of what he did even though he has done it before…you may remember this, a minor hit from 2007, when he performed a number by the Kaiser Chiefs.  His spelling hasn’t much improved since then but I hope his singing has:  http://youtu.be/f6Hj0MYv4SY

Anyway, as they say, pride comes before the fall so, honestly,  I had decided I was not going to brag.  But despite my restraint, the fall came regardless in the shape of a snapchat picture which arrived from Bob this morning.  I had the presence of mind despite my shock at the image to click and save.  And this I will share with you.  I suppose it is what you might expect from any self-respecting rock-star.

I have since been partially reassured that it was just drawn on his shoulder by a friend, but I have learnt in the past not to trust these little so and so’s an inch.  “Scuse me while I kiss the sky” ( or as I like to say to her “this guy”  ) is still very much etched on my mind and the inside of Hen’s wrist despite protestations at the time she wasn’t interested in tatts.

Talking of which our other fearless traveller has bought herself more time on the beach in the Andaman’s.  This means, I have just worked out, that she will have spent 8 of the previous 10 weeks with sand between her toes.  Even if, she tells me, she has checked into a shack on Beach No 5, Havelock Island “the size of a chicken-hutch” this is a pretty indulgent life style.  And then the week after next she is off trekking in Nepal… “for a few weeks”.  Hey ho.
