But don’t say I never add value to your life.  Right on cue given some of the content below I have a bit of electoral insight from our girl on the ground in India.  I told her there was a general election going on and to report back.  She has seized the moment with alacrity wouldn’t you say?  I know…there seems to be a bit of an English language problem here but lets put it down to problems with predicative texting from India and her extended time on the beach, not to mention her Rastafarian tendencies.  I am sure all will be well when she sits down to write her first Archaeology and Anthropology essay at Bristol University later this year.

Daddy buy a piece of land in India NOW somewhere!!! Cos of the reformation it definatly not gunna be with the ghandi family anymore. And prices are gunna double fast. Like u said 815 mil eligible to vote. People will clock on. All alcohol shops are closed atm and LOTs of popo. Xxx not dangerous though we here about it but haven't really seen full on action yet xx

She certainly seems to have taken a leaf out of Bob’s book with the uncouched investment recommendation and the sense that I have money rolling out of my ears.  You may recall how I told you a couple of years back about Bob’s urging that I put A LOT of money in hydrogen fuel cell technology.  He invested his life savings of £500 in ITM Power which immediately did what Indian land is about to do apparently, but since then the investment has gone a little awry after several disappointing results announcements culminating in a surprise capital raising.  He remains seemingly unconcerned and a long term holder though he has lost some of his enthusiasm for the City.  Last week Nomura held a seminar here for teenage children of employees to introduce the kids ( not us obviously ) to the workings of investment markets.  I suggested to him that it might be an interesting and even fun thing for him to attend.  His initial reaction was, what’s the word I’m looking for, restrained. “I really don’t want to work in the City you know “ but then after the briefest of pauses to reflect, and I swear there had not been even a hint of disappointment in the look I gave him, he said “Actually, I’d like to go.  After all knowledge is wisdom.”  You what???!   I almost hugged him for that.  But as ever though with these kids there was an ulterior motive.  As some 40 teenagers trooped into our Angel Lane offices I swear I didn’t notice anyone else wearing a back to front baseball cap or carrying a skateboard.  The two hour session completed Bob was out of there like a shot telling me that his team had come second and would have won the portfolio management competition by a mile if the pharmaceutical company they had invested in hadn’t released a drug which killed 50 people.  And then he was off, skateboarding down the Embankment to the Southbank Centre board park which he said….. “ is legend and soon to be shut down so, as I’m in London anyway, it’s now or never.”  Oh well.  It makes a change from killing things and I have preached Carpe Diem to him till I’m blue in the face so fair enough eh?
